I live in Cape Town.
I’m never quite sure how to talk about what I create. It’s always personal. It’s often spontaneous. If I had to try write something all encompassing I would no sooner discard it.
I rarely look forward in time when I create. That is to say that I don’t plan narratives or encrypt symbolism. Instead, I just look inside myself, often in the moment. True meaning is found in those moments and everything in the image means something. I’ll start the piece with one idea and usually end with another.
Change is inevitable. When I look at these images now, I am really looking backwards through time, to some other version of myself.
It’s quite secretive.
